Profile Settings

Manage your personal account information and preferences.

Accessing Profile Settings

Navigate to Settings → Profile to view and edit your account information.

Profile Information

Display Name

Your name as shown to other team members:

1. Navigate to Settings → Profile
2. Click Edit next to your name
3. Enter your new display name
4. Click Save

Display name appears:

• In team member lists
• In version history
• In activity feeds

Email Address

Your primary email for login and notifications:

1. Navigate to Settings → Profile
2. Click Change Email
3. Enter new email address
4. Verify your new email
5. Email is updated

Note: Changing email requires verification before the change takes effect.

Profile Picture

Coming soon: Upload a custom profile picture.

Currently, profile pictures are generated from:

• Your Google/GitHub/GitLab account (if using social login)
• Initials (if using email/password)

Account Information

View read-only account details:

• User ID - Your unique identifier
• Account Created - When you joined Contextium
• Last Login - Most recent login timestamp
• Email Verified - Verification status

Password Management

Change Your Password

1. Navigate to Settings → Profile
2. Click Change Password
3. Enter current password
4. Enter new password (minimum 8 characters)
5. Confirm new password
6. Click Update Password

Password Requirements

Strong passwords must:

• Be at least 8 characters long
• Include uppercase and lowercase letters
• Include at least one number
• Include at least one special character

Forgot Password

If you've forgotten your password:

1. Go to the login page
2. Click Forgot Password
3. Enter your email address
4. Check email for reset link
5. Click link and set new password

Password reset links expire after 24 hours.

Connected Accounts

Social Login Connections

View and manage connected accounts:

1. Navigate to Settings → Profile
2. View Connected Accounts section
3. See linked providers:
   • Google
   • GitHub
   • GitLab

Connect an Account

Add social login to your account:

1. Navigate to Settings → Profile
2. Click Connect next to a provider
3. Authorize Contextium
4. Account is linked

Benefits:

• Quick login without password
• Profile picture from provider
• Email verification from provider

Disconnect an Account

Remove a social login connection:

1. Navigate to Settings → Profile
2. Click Disconnect next to provider
3. Confirm disconnection

Note: You must have either:

• A password set, OR
• At least one other connected account

Cannot disconnect all login methods.

Session Management

Active Sessions

View your current login sessions:

1. Navigate to Settings → Profile
2. Click Active Sessions
3. See all devices/browsers logged in

Each session shows:

• Device type and browser
• IP address
• Location (approximate)
• Last active timestamp

Sign Out Other Sessions

Remove access from other devices:

1. Navigate to Active Sessions
2. Click Sign Out Other Sessions
3. Confirm action

Your current session remains active. Other devices must log in again.

Sign Out Specific Session

1. Navigate to Active Sessions
2. Find the session to remove
3. Click Sign Out
4. Session ends immediately

Privacy Settings

Email Preferences

Control email notifications:

1. Navigate to Settings → Profile
2. Click Email Preferences
3. Toggle:
   • Marketing emails
   • Product updates
   • Weekly digests
   • Team notifications

Data Privacy

View your data privacy settings:

1. Navigate to Settings → Privacy
2. See:
   • Data collection practices
   • Privacy policy link
   • Data export options
   • Account deletion link

Export Your Data

Download all your personal data:

1. Navigate to Settings → Profile
2. Click Export Data
3. Choose what to include:
   • Profile information
   • Files you created
   • Comments
   • Activity history
4. Click Request Export
5. Receive download link via email (within 24 hours)

Export includes:

• JSON format for data
• Markdown files for content
• Complete version history

Language & Region

Best Practices

Keep Email Current

• Update email when it changes
• Verify email to ensure notifications work
• Check spam folder if you don't receive emails

Use Strong Password

• Choose a unique password
• Don't reuse passwords from other sites
• Update password periodically
• Enable 2FA for extra security

Review Sessions Regularly

• Check active sessions monthly
• Sign out unfamiliar sessions immediately
• Report suspicious activity

Complete Your Profile

• Add your full name
• Connect social accounts
• Verify your email
• Set preferences
